Touring Sylva NC

Sandy made some delicious blueberry muffins for a quick breakfast, and we were off to explore the incredibly steep hills, narrow roads (absolutely no shoulders, Eric is not allowed to drive them), eclectic  shops, and blooming flowers and trees. Dave drove (thank god I didn't)  as we wound through the crags & coves of the North Carolina hills. We went the library where sandy worked, (it is actually the old courthouse, all redone).

The building overlooks the town of Sylva ,

where Dave owned a bicycle shop.

Motion Makers Bike Shop

Dave and I talked bikes with the newer owner Kent.
(Eric & Steve in background)...Karla and sandy visited other shops.....

The Molin's have lived in Sylva for 17 years now, since leaving Vermont, and know or are known, by pretty much everybody in town. Sylva attracts lots of artists so we check some out.

Riverwood Pottery

Gorgeous Flowers surrounded the place...

then to The Menagerie  glass shop

the owner was busy repairing door from an old hotel........

really fine workmanship........

it was hard to leave.........

Had lunch...drove around, headed back home........
Dave plays jazz guitar  in a two piece band and has a gig coming up....
so he need to practice, Sandy and Karla talked the afternoon away on the porch,
while I performed some more "magic" on the Vanagon........\\
Later, dinner, drinks, talk......we had a lot of catching up to do.....it was like old-times never missed a beat.

In the morning.....APEX, NC.....to Karla's sister Teri's house
to see husband Chris and the boys Austin, Luke and Sean...............
